Bad or busy?

It’s been a crazy couple of weeks. So crazy, it’s been difficult to find time to post. But the work of ministry is so fulfilling, seeing God’s Spirit intersect with His creation. When Heaven invades earth, amazing things happen. People are saved from the schemes of the enemy. But when we’re so busy, it’s hard to notice when God blesses us.

My wife and I have a good friend who reminds us that “If Satan can’t make you bad, he’ll make you busy.” So many of us want to walk as followers of Jesus and want to know what it’s like to be set apart as God called us to be. Peter reminds us that we are to be holy in all of our conduct. Be holy because God is holy (1 Peter 1:15-16). But there are times that the chaos of the world pushes in to distract us from who we are called to be. We are so busy that we forget what it means to be holy. It seems that those who try to honor God find themselves busy — because Satan is having difficulty making us bad.

So when you find that the day has wasted away and you have little to show for it; when you’ve realized that your time in God’s Word has been pushed out because there just isn’t enough time in the day; when you notice that your prayer time has become little more than a quick “God help me through this…,” know this: You’re not alone. God is still there waiting for you to slow down and listen for Him.

God is always talking to us. Through our dreams, His written Word (logos), and in the revelation He speaks to you as you study the Bible and pray (rhema), God wants to bring you into a deeper relationship with Him. The bad and the busy come into submission when God is in the driver’s seat. Put God’s Word first in your day and watch how God supernaturally takes care of the rest. Mark my words.
